La Patrona is a Spanish-language telenovela produced by United States-based television network Telemundo Studios, Miami and Mexican Argos Comunicación. The telenovela is a remake of the Venezuelan telenovela La Dueña, written by José Ignacio Cabrujas.The name reflects a local term or slang in Mexico to address a person recognized as the main boss. However, the title is also a reflection of both the protagonist and the antagonist struggle to conquer power, authority and respect in a labor field traditionally deemed to be a man's job.

Follows a man who, after 40 years, comes back to his hometown. There he has nobody. His friends from America are coming after him to get him back and small village in Vojvodina becomes lively as never before.

Little Nikita, the son of polar scientist Sergei Ivanov, runs away from home with the intention of reaching the Arctic, where he believes his father works. The boy manages to reach Leningrad, where he ends up at the Arctic Institute. Sergei is tasked with returning the runaway home, but Nikita stubbornly hides his origins and the purpose of his escape. Soon, his grandmother arrives, and Ivanov learns that Nikita is his son. He writes a letter to his ex-wife and convinces her of the need to return to him. The couple reconciles, and, preparing for another expedition, Sergei promises his wife and young son that he will return to the mainland on time.
